Blog Journal Day 16

Day 16 (August 16, 2010) Topic:  A song that makes me cry (or nearly)

Hallelujah By Jeff Buckley gives me chills every time I hear it.

There are a lot of songs that I connect to events in life.  Too many to list.  This song by Clint Black says it all...

Blog Journal Day 14 & 15

Day 14 (August 14, 2010) Topic: Favorite Non-Fictional Book
So I think I have mentioned it before I love non-fiction, self help kinda books:)  I guess my favorite would be What to Expect When Expecting because I loved learning about my body changing and what my growing babies were up to!

Day 15 August 15, 2010): My Dream house
6 Bedrooms with master on the main, 7.5 baths, craft room, game room, media room, lots of closets and cabinet space, large chef kitchen with a big island (and a pot filler:), large pantry, Dining room, large living/family room (no sitting room), maybe a study/office, possible front porch, big deck leading out to an outdoor kitchen/entertaining area, pool, on a golf course, ok so I'll go ahead and say The River Club off Moore Rd. in Suwanee, GA
However, my dream home is any home that my family lives in and makes it a home.  A small home full of love and laughter is better than any big home full of rooms separating loved ones.
I always say that I loved the first place Brian and I lived together - our 2 bedroom apartment.  It was small, but it was cozy and there weren't many rooms so we were always together.  Now we have a house - its not huge but 3 bedrooms with bonus room means we have enough tvs up that we can go anywhere and watch what we want - adding separation.  Our next home will probably be bigger to accommodate our growing family.  I will always remember our tiny apartment and it will always be where we started, where we brought our first baby home to, where we made our second made (TMI:)...And that to me is a dream house.

Subbing & Tee Ball

Well, on Monday I will leave my little babies to go and sub in a 4th grade classroom at Riverside Elementary.  I haven't been in a classroom in 2 years.  I am already very nervous and sad!  Sad - I really didn't think I would feel so sad.  I mean its only one day, well two I am subbing Tuesday at White Oak in 2nd grade.  I am only going to sub a few times a month.  I can't leave the kids every day.  The extra money is nice, but not as nice as pj days or afternoons at the pool. Brian will be home with the boys so they will be fine and have a lot of fun with their daddy - its me that I am worried about!  However I am planning to keep a positive outlook and upbeat for me and the boys.  Like Brian says, I will be home as Austin is waking up from his nap.  Feeling a bit out of sorts, I did only what I would do - I cleaned out two closets, reorganized cabinets, moved stuff out of the bonus room which will be Brian's man's room/office and got rid of some stuff - All in 4 hours.  Now I am exhausted but feel cleansed!  Tomorrow a few errands with the boys and finishing a paper.  Sunday will be spent doing nothing, but spending time with the boys doing what they want.  Next Friday I am taking them to see my grandma Cappellino who is very ill.  It is a very short trip.  We fly in Friday evening and fly out Sunday morning.  They have flown before when Logan was almost 2 and Austin was almost 6 months. It should be an experience!
I just signed Logan up for t-ball!  He will be playing at EE Robinson beginning the 21st of August (he will miss the first practice).  It is a very laid back.  He will play with other boys and girls all with different skill levels.  I think it will be fun for him, especially to be with other kids.  The park is literally right across the street from our development.  His practices and games will only be on Saturdays between 9 and 11.  It will be fun for all of us and I will be taking lots of pictures!  I can't wait to see him in his little baseball pants and cleats!

Blog Journal Day 13

Day 13 (August 13, 2010) Topic: Favorite Fictional Book
Way to many to have a favorite.  Daniele Steel is one of my favorite fictional authors.  The last fictional book I read was Best Friends Forever by Jennifer Weiner.

  From The Washington Post

From The Washington Post's Book World/washingtonpost.com Reviewed by Claudia Deane Best-selling novelist Jennifer Weiner says her seventh book, "Best Friends Forever," is in part an answer to this question: "What if Thelma and Louise didn't have to die?" The two doomed dames do come to mind when reading this high school revenge fantasy, which opens with onetime jock Dan Swansea waking up in a dark parking lot naked with blood on his head. But Weiner fans shouldn't panic; the story soon turns to her more familiar themes: loneliness, friendship, the search for love, the struggles of mothers and daughters, and the sheer misery of being a fat girl in a thin girl's world. Her heroine here is Addie Downs, a 33-year-old greeting card illustrator in the Chicago suburbs who has spent her adult life taking care of troubled family members and who now lives alone in her childhood home with fresh memories of dismal blind dates. The story starts in earnest when Addie's childhood best friend, Valerie, a beautiful blond weatherperson on "Chicago's third-rated TV station" whom she hasn't spoken to since high school, appears on her doorstep one cold evening, upset and bloodstained. You can probably take it from here, no? As a fan of vulnerable smartass Cannie Shapiro, the likable heroine of Weiner's most recent bestseller, "Certain Girls," and her breakout novel, "Good in Bed," I had trouble warming up to this most recent offering. In "Best Friends Forever," Valerie is over-the-top, weather-girl ridiculous -- she wants to rob a bank, for heaven's sake -- and at times the story borders on the farcical. But there are compensations. Addie displays flashes of the trademark Weiner snark: "Didn't you once read the weather while you were riding a mechanical bull? I'm going to suggest that the dignity ship has sailed without you aboard." And the flashbacks to the girls' childhood friendship and their two vastly different mothers are moody, touching and true to life. In fact, the thing I enjoy most about Weiner's books is their familiarity -- how her characters' concerns, jokes, insecurities and even homes feel like real life, or at least the embarrassingly tame version lived by average middle-class moms like me. With its girl-on-the-lam main characters, "BFF" has less comfortable warmth than some of Weiner's previous works, but enough to keep me pleasantly looking forward to book 8.

Day 12 (August 12, 2010) Topic: Something I am OCD About
OCD - that is my middle name!  I am OCD about a lot of things including the following:
1. Vacuuming the house daily, sometimes 2 times a day
2. Cleaning the carpets monthly
3. Organizing baby clothes that are not in use (rubber maid containers with size indicated on the outside on a label printed out)
4. My house is always picked up, beds made, dishes put away before I can leave the house or go to bed
5. Clutter - I hate it
6. Pictures - have to be edited, organized, dated, put up around the house.
7. Being on Time and
8. Making lists - I love lists!
I do more work now that I am home than I ever did working.  I bust my butt daily because of my OCD issues! However, I do get a lot done in a day!  I don't try to involve the kids or husband in my "issues."  I prefer to do the things I do myself and want my babies to play play play no matter the mess (I like cleaning it up).

Day 10 (August 10, 2010) Topic:  A Picture of Me Taken Over 10 Years Ago

I love Halloween, so I thought this was a great picture to add.  It is really only 6 years ago, but a fun one showing how young we looked!

I Prayed

Our "bad days" will be the ones we dream of when we sit, playing bingo, with blankets covering our laps. - Facebook friend's status update today
I needed to read that.  I was having a really bad day.  The first day of school is always hard on me.  I always wish I were in a classroom full of excited children -sad isn't it?  I am home with my two beautiful boys wishing I was somewhere else.  I am always conflicted by this.  If I were in that classroom on the first day of school with 20 some new "friends" I would be wishing I was home with my two babies.
I heard the school buses this morning from my bed, I should have been thankful to still be in bed, but I was sad and tired.  All I could think was "I could be sad and tired with a classroom full of children ready to start a new school year, but I am here and the kids are getting up and will be demanding breakfast, laundry needs done, dishes put away, the animals need fed, diapers need changed, I clean the house on Mondays, lunch will need made, naps, asking a 3 year old if he has to go potty 8,345 times, snacks, coming up with ideas to entertain the kids, building a train track that will get destroyed before dinner, dinner - what will I make?"; just thinking about the day exhausted me.  Then thoughts about money crept in.  Me staying home makes us financially strapped.  There are no extras.  I looked around my bedroom and thought if I was in the classroom I would get a paycheck at the end of the month and could finally buy curtains and decorate the walls.  I really didn't want to get out of bed.  Then Logan came in my bed and said "Hi Mommy I love You, can you make me breakfast?"  then Austin calling from his "mama I want up, mama!"  It was at that moment that I remembered why I left something I loved so much to be with the little people that I loved more.
It was a rough day, a completely "poor me" kinda day.  A poor me kinda day that some people dream of having.  So I prayed, I prayed to be a better mommy tomorrow, I prayed to to be content with what I have, I prayed for forgiveness for each time I thought that I wanted to be somewhere else, I prayed that one day I could be a mother, wife, and teacher and be great at all three, I prayed for the mothers that had to leave their children today, I prayed that I would be more thankful for the opportunity to be with my boys, I prayed that financially it would get easier, I prayed that even though I was snappy at the boys that they know how much I love them and will know that these days were the best days of their mommy's life, I prayed...

Blog Journal Day 9

Day 9 (August 9, 2010) Topic:  A Picture that I Took
I take pictures all the time; my favorite two people to photograph are Logan and Austin.  I always have my camera out to capture pictures like these: Austin kissing Jessie and Logan sitting with his "friends."
