Where Did June Go?

I can't believe today is the last day of June! I had a great month being a stay at home mom. This is something I can definitely get used to. There is more and more talk between Brian and I of me staying home for good in the very near future! I feel lucky and blessed that we may be able to make this happen. Logan is learning more each day. He has begun to repeat things we say. Like I will say "Don't put that in your mouth it is kaka (meaning yucky)." Logan will then repeat "kaka" over and over! When he wants a cookie it also sounds like kaka. He says gog for dog and sometimes will say things that sound like "good girl" when talking to our dog Dakota and "thank you." He seems to do something or say something new each day. Since walking came so early for Logan (11 months) he is now running full speed. He also loves to climb on and in everything and anything. Logan plays really well by himself, but I really like to play with him as well and we read lots of books -even though his attention span is like 2 minutes long! He loves being outside and playing in the water (pools, dog bowls, puddles, etc!) Over the weekend Logan went to Lake Lanier Islands kiddie water area with his Grandma and Grandpa Harris and loved it. He even kisses my belly (baby Austin). I could go on and on like all moms can! He is just the light of my life. Brian is also doing well. He just finished painting Logan's bedroom. He has Austin's room to paint as well as our master and his man room. After that I think he will want to hang up his paint brushes for a long while! He is a great painter! I will post pics of Logan's room as soon as the curtains are hung. I am really proud of how our home is coming together. I want to be done decorating and painting all rooms as much as we can by the time school begins in August. Brian is also staying very busy at work. He was promoted again this time to oversee and run both restaurants - Duluth and Alpharetta. He has a lot of people to manage and even when he is at home his phone is ringing with people looking to him for answers. We recently joined Lifetime Fitness - which is more like a country club than a gym. Brian has set some fitness goals for himself and tries to get to the gym daily. Chasing after Logan is enough of a workout for me right now! Once Austin is born it will be great to have somewhere to go to get back into shape. I'll also have my mom who is becoming a personal trainer. She is going to be in a fitness show in July. We are so proud of Mimi and her accomplishments. She is in amazing shape for being a mother of 4 and a grandmother! Austin kicks and moves around a lot. I am just getting to the point of being uncomfortable at bedtime. I had forgotten how bad my back hurts when I am pregnant. It is all coming back to me now! The prize at the end is so worth it though! Brian and I were able to go to the movies on Sunday when Logan went to the water park with his grandparents. We had fun going to an early movie (which was 2 dollars cheaper since it was only 11:30) to see "WANTED." We ate candy and buttery popcorn and then I had a stomach when we got home - but it was worth it! We are looking forward to a HOT, fun July. Brian's b-day is Friday the fourth. We are going to kick off the weekend with a family birthday party on Thursday. Then go and watch fireworks at the park across the street. Friday is Brian's day - so whatever he wants to do we will do. Then we are headed up to the lake house my parents rented for the weekend to hang out and get some sun. I am sure I will have lots of pictures to post next week. Here is a few pictures of Logan I took over the weekend.

Logan is all about putting things away. You never know where your keys, shoes, mail, (anything left out) is going to end up. His new favorite hiding place - the fire place (so glad it is summer and we are not using it).

Logan and I want to say Happy Father's Day to the best daddy in the world. Brian you are a great husband and a fantastic dad. My favorite part of the day is when you walk in the door. Yes I am glad you are home, but watching you and Logan find each other in the house and setting off to play makes me love fall in love with you for the millionth time! He is so lucky to have you as a dad, as is his new baby brother, Austin. Thank you for our children. I am proud to be your wife and to be building a life with you as my husband, partner, and best friend! We are so glad you like your new grill and can't wait for you to make us a yummy dinner! Father's Day Project

Logan and I made Father's Day stepping stones. What a challenging project with a one year old who doesn't like to have dirty hands! While I mixed the cement and layed it in the molds, Logan played in the water and his pool. When it came time to stick his hands in the mold of cement, he was having no part of it. So I patiently tried over and over until we were both covered in cement and had to take a shower. I ended up decorating the stones and writing "I Love You" with the intentions that we would dip Logan's hands in paint and get his handprint on the stepping stones that way. So the next night I tried using the paint, Logan was still very resistant to putting his hands in the paint and placing them on the stones. I ended up covered in paint, again we headed to the shower without completing the project. On Father's Day the stepping stones were not done, so we took them to the grandparents half finished and they helped Logan put his hand in the paint and get a handprint. We had one for Brian, but never got to it. So we are going to make it a birthday tradition for daddy. We think it will be so great to having stepping stones in our yards and parent's yards of the kid's handprints through the years.

Yesterday was a big day. Brian and I took Logan to Suwanee Town Center to eat at Five Guys Burgers for lunch (he loves cheeseburgers and fries) and then we headed down to the barber shop. Logan did a really great job. He sat in the stylist's chair by himself and with a few hair stylist tools was entertained. The barber gave me the first cut of hair (curls off the back) to keep. His hair is a bit shorter than I anticipated. He looks like a little boy rather than a baby. I just wasn't ready for that. He had a haircut and I had a meltdown! Seriously I cried. It only took about 10minutes (the barber was great and quick) and then Logan received a certificate stating that he had his first haircut. No matter what his hair looks like he will always be my baby!

Baby Austin Update

Monday marked 21 weeks! If I go full term only 19, however that is unlikely so more like 17. That number does not seem so far away. Brian and Logan came with me to my OBGYN appt on Monday. It was the big ultrasound to look at the baby's anatomy. We are truly blessed. Our second baby boy is healthy and doing great. We were given a ton of pictures from the ultrasound, unfortunately they are not on a disk. Austin was sucking his thumb, swallowing, and had his legs stretched all the way out. It was hysterical. He weighs 13 ounces. Which does not explain the rest of the weight I have gained:) Right now he is in the breech position. Hopefully in time he will turn. He moves around a lot. Brian felt him for the first time over the weekend. However my placenta is positioned against my belly with the baby behind it so I don't feel all the movements. It was the same way when I was pregnant with Logan. How weird that the placenta is in the exact same place the second time around. Once the baby is bigger I will feel a lot more movement. In 4 weeks I go for the glucose test to make sure I don't have diabetes. When I took the test with Logan I failed it and had to endure the 3 hour test. I really hope that doesn't happen this time! Summer Ear Infection

For the past few days Logan has been a little fussy and pulling on his ears. On Friday I took him to the pediatrician and it turns out he has a double ear infection. We saw a different pediatrician than usual because Dr. Pearlstein was off. The doctor asked me if Logan had ever had an ear infection before. I replied that he had one during the winter. She looked back in his file and reminded me that he a double ear infection on New Years Eve! I completely forgot about the trip to the ER on Christmas night, being home bound during winter break, and not going out on New Years Eve because Logan had become sicker with a double ear infection. He was only 7 1/2 months at that point. So we went about 5 months without an ear infection. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a continuous cycle. However Amoxicillan does work for Logan and clears up the infection. He also really likes taking the medicine! Very unusual I think it tastes chalky. Logan does love sweet stuff though. So we just hung out at home on Friday. Logan is feeling a bit better today. He was running around and playing this morning before we went to Target. He is napping right now. This afternoon I am taking him to Grandma and Grandpa Harris' house for a sleep over. I definitely had to spend some time thinking about this. I had to make sure he was well enough to spend the night out. Brian and I are having a much needed date night! We haven't been out alone since maybe March (I say maybe because it could have been February). We don't know what we are doing yet maybe dinner and a movie. We are just excited to be spending time alone.

It's Getting Hot!

It is getting so hot, so this morning we packed up and headed to the pool for the first time. I put sunscreen on Logan before we left our house, which was a good thing because as soon as he spotted the kiddie pool he was ready to get in! He loved playing with his toys in the pool and is getting used to walking in 8inches of water! I never thought I would enjoy sitting along the pool watching my child play as much as I do. When I would go to the pool pre-kids I would lay out, sleep, drink, read a book watching all the moms watch their children and thinking how boring that must be. Turns out it is better than laying out, sleeping, drinking, or reading any book and it is anything but boring. I get so much joy and entertainment watching Logan play and experience the environment around him for the first time. I always think of that Johnson and Johnson commercial when thinking about my life before Logan - the mother is giving her bald baby a bath in the sink saying that she always feel for the tall, dark, handsome type then she had a baby and feel in love with someone that was short and bald. The motto of the commerical "Having a baby changes everything."

Logan loves our dog Dakota. Last night they feel asleep in our bed (of course) next to each other. It was really sweet. At one point Logan rolled over and put his arm around her. Such a lover!

Mommy and Me Play Group

Logan and I attended our first Mommy and Me playdate Wednesday night. The mommy's at Meg's school get together each summer with their kids a few times each week. We were invited to join this summer. So last night was the first event of the summer. Each Wednesday the moms take turns hosting dinners at their house. Everyone else brings a side dish (the host does the meat/main dish) and their children. We went to Ms. Lisa's house. It was so much fun. Logan loved playing with the other kids. I wasn't sure how he would act since he had never been with a group of kids. But he did great. He found his place and played, played, played. He wouldn't even eat dinner because he wanted to play! One mom had a baby and Logan was all over him. He kept brining him toys, patting his head, giving kisses. I had to make sure he was gentle. He would have climbed right into the carrier with the baby if he could have! I think he will be a great big brother in a few months. After we ate Ms. Lisa hooked up the sprinkler ball and the kids got their bathing suits on. This is the coolest thing ever. It is a huge beach ball looking sprinkler. You hook the hose in it and water sprays out from different parts of the ball. Logan went right up to and played in the water. I really wished I had my camera at that point. He really surprised me last night. I know he is out going but lately he really wants his mommy. Last night he acted like he didn't even know me! He was all about the kids and playing. We are excited for many more playdates to come (and next time I will bring my camera).

Wedding Weekend

Congratulations to Ryan and Julie who were married on Saturday, May 31. We are so happy for them! The weekend started off with a bridal luncheon at Chataue Elan. The bridal party and moms were there. Logan stayed with his Aunt Donna and had a fun day of playing! We dined on yummy finger foods. Julie gave really nice speeches as she handed out gifts. After the luncheon I drove to Lawrenceville to get Logan. We rushed home to get in a nap before getting ready for the rehearsal and dinner. The rehearsal dinner was at Aqua Terra Bistro in downtown Buford. It was a really nice dinner. Everyone in the wedding party, as well as parents gave speeches and Logan had lots of fun running around! We ate more delicious food (I think that is all I did all weekend)! The next morning Brian went to play golf with the groomsman. Logan and I stayed home and had company. Grandpa and Grandma Mullen, Aunt Tracey, and Papa Tom came to visit us and our new home. When they left Logan and I headed to Mimi and Papa's house where Daniele did my hair & makeup and Logan napped. I then went to the church to eat (again) lunch with the girls and wait for pictures. Mimi and Logan came around 2 for pictures. Daniele was such a huge help this weekend with Logan - as were all my mom and dad's friends. He stayed with them and I know he got a lot of love and had fun while mommy and daddy did wedding stuff. The ceremony was beautiful. More pictures after the ceremony and then we climbed into the party bus to go to the reception at the Metropolitan Club where we danced, ate, and talked with family and friends. It was a great day. We were all so tired. Logan passed out on the way home. We all slept in until 8:30 Sunday morning. Then Logan and I took a 3 hour nap. We had to recover:) What a fun weekend. Ryan and Julie are in Jamica for their honeymoon and will return to Georgia on Sunday. I didn't take pictures as I was so busy with the wedding. However Daniele did and I will post some as soon as I get the disk.
