Deck Fun

We bought the boys (Logan for now, Austin soon:) a water/sand table last week. However with all the rain he did not get to use it. So before the rain comes again we put it up for him today. Logan loves the table! He loves it so much that he cried when it was time to come in, he even ate dinner out by it! Yeah for the water/sand table!

Good Girl

Logan refers to dogs as "good girls" even though he can say the word dog. He calls them all good girls (boy dogs included) because he hears us saying it so much to our awesome dog Dakota. She is sooo protective of all of us. When the baby is crying she comes to find me and paces until I go to him. If someone is walking on "her street" she is sure to bark like crazy until they pass. Our mail person and UPS driver don't stand a chance to drop anything off without a bark. When Dakota needs to go out we can let her out without a leash and she goes to the bathroom in our yard and comes right back to the door. Brian and I got Dakota 4 years ago. She doesn't get as much attention from us as she did back then, but she gets even more from Logan. He LOVES his Good Girl!

Nap Time

I don't need to say much about the following pictures. After reading books on my bed they both fell asleep (one on each side of me). Instead of napping like I do sometimes, I decided to get up and get my garage ready for this weekend (we are having a garage sale)! So the boys cuddled up together...

Disclaimer: Yes, I made sure Austin had enough space to move and air to breath!

Bath Time

I have realized that bathing both boys at the same time is a lot more fun, faster, and easier! They love being in the tub together. Full of bubbles, laughter, toys, and two happy little boys is a great way to end the day!

Brian loves bathing the boys as well. He uses more bubbles than I do and ends up as wet as the boys are without getting in the tub. Here they are with foam numbers on their heads!

Truthful Thursday

As I write this I am watching "In the Motherhood" a new show on ABC.
I feel like the lady in the Suave commercial where she has the baby in the baby Bjorn and life is changing around her except for the great hair, the commercial ends saying something about real life happening.
Anyway I digress, In the past I have really only blogged about the fun, exciting, happy times in our lives. I blog about all the great things that go on in our family from haircuts to pregnancy to birth stories and moving. However I usually don't' blog about the "yucky" days. Its not that we don't have them, we really do, a lot of them. I realize that I tend to only write about the good stuff. Why? Maybe because I was grew up straying away from publicly sharing the "dirty laundry" of life. Maybe I do it not really knowing I am doing it! Whatever the reason is, only fun, exciting, happy times is not real life. I want to be able to look back on our blog be a year, five years, or 20 years and read about our life, our real life. So I am going to start airing a bit more of our "dirty laundry." I am going to begin with Monday of this week. It was a bad day. A day that made me question my mothering...
We had a busy weekend, ending with Austin's baptism on Sunday. We were all tired, me, Brian, the boys. The boys were asleep by 7pm! Brian and I followed around 9. Since the kids went to bed so early, that meant for an early wake up - a 5:30am wake up. I made Logan cheese eggs and he watched a short Barney video. By 7:00am he was exhausted. Back to bed he went until 9:30! That meant at nap time he was not going to sleep. We read some of his ABC bible book and through the tears of not wanting to go to sleep he threw the hard back book at my nose! After telling him that we don't throw things at or hit people I let him get up. I decided it was time to go to the park. I get the kids ready and pull the double jogger out of the garage. Logan begins to scream NO!!!! He did not want to sit in the jogger next to his brother. I made him get in it and he is still screaming, our neighbor came out to check on him he was screaming so loud! I decided to give up and put Austin in the baby Bjorn and push Logan in his car (like a stroller but in the shape of a car). He was loving life, getting pushed in his car to the park where he proceeded to run and play and slide for an hour! Then it was time to go. It was almost 5pm and I still had to make dinner. So I prepared Logan by telling him he could go down the slide "one more time and then it was time to leave." One more time turned into 4 more times and then me carrying him kicking and screaming to the toy car (with Austin strapped to my chest). He was carrying on and running from me every time I put him down to adjust Austin from falling out. I finally got him in the car and he stood up, jumped out and threw himself in the dirt and started rolling and kicking and still screaming. Just as I was about to grab him and spank his butt (diaper) a kind woman came up to us. She said "Hi Mom" in a very overly cheerful voice "can I help you?" I did all but fall to the ground kissing her feet. I quickly tried to explain that I was trying to get Logan in his car to take the kids home. She looked at Logan and said, "hey buddy, I like your car, can you show me how you drive it." Wouldn't you know he jumped in his car and was ready to go. I apologized and said how embarrassed I was and how crazy I must have looked. She helped me get Austin settled back in the baby Bjorn (oh yes, during Logan's tantrum I was taking Austin out of the baby Bjorn, thinking I would lay him in the car, push him and carrying Logan a 1/2 mile back to our house). The kind woman said she had children that were older now but remembered being in my shoes and that I would be okay. I thanked her again and started walking home - crying.
I felt defeated by my toddler. I didn't know how I managed a classroom of 20 6 year old children and couldn't get my toddler in his car to go home. By the time we got home, we were all exhausted and Logan was filthy from rolling in dirt. I put Austin in his crib to take a quick cat nap and got Logan in the tub to take a bubble bath. I told him I was sorry for losing my temper. Then decided that the best thing to do was to learn from the experience and move on. Tuesday would be another day.

St. Patty's Day Success

We are sooo proud of Brian (aka Daddy)! He worked his butt off planning for two St. Patty's Day parties at the two pubs. He did a great job and his hard work really paid off. I was able to get out and attend the Duluth Pub's party for a bit on Saturday the 14th. It was a lot of fun. Over the course of 4 days both pubs did really well and I know it is because of Brian's leadership and his great staff! He is already thinking about next St. Patty's Day and what he will do and not do!

Austin 5 months, Logan 22 months!

Where are the months going? Austin is doing a lot better. He still has some tummy issues every now and then but overall his health has improved. He is such a happy, alert, sweet baby. He recently found his feet and can't keep them out of his mouth! He has also started sucking his thumb when he is really hungry. Although I would rather him not suck his thumb it is really cute to see. Logan never sucked his thumb only his ya-ya! Austin saw his GI specialist last week and weighed in at a whopping 17lbs! He is wearing 6-9 month and even a few 12 month things. He has started to do the tripod to hold himself up. We have not started solids yet. We tried and it really hurt his stomach. He is still nursing and loving it. He still gets up 2 times a night to eat though. I plan on weaning him soon! He goes for his 6 month well visit next month.
Logan is so incredibly smart. He has an extensive vocabulary and can now tell us what he wants and even more so what he doesn't want! I am in the midst of planning his 2nd birthday party - mark your calendars May 17 2-4pm! It is going to be of course a Barney Bash! He really loves Barney, so much so I had to put the dvds away, we all needed a break!
The boys really love each other so much already. The other day Austin started to cry, I was getting clothes out of the dryer and I peak around the corner to see Logan giving Austin his bottle that he had gotten off the counter! He gives him ya-ya and tickles him to make Austin laugh while saying "goochie goochie goo!" They are going to be buddies for sure. Austin stares at Logan and squeals at any attention Logan gives him. The other day I walked in the bedroom to read books before bed and Logan had given Austin a book to look at and he had a book as well so they could "read" while waiting for mommy! Bath time is getting fun and wild with both boys in the tub (pictures coming soon)!

A Trip to the Zoo for Mimi's Birthday!

March 7th was my mom's birthday! For my her birthday we all went to the zoo. The ATL zoo isn't the greatest, but Logan loved, loved, loved seeing all the animals. He proudly said their names and made each animal noise! Austin was great in the baby bjorn. After the zoo, we headed to Bucca for a great Italian dinner and cake. It was a fun day. As you can see from some of the pictures, Logan had a very big day making him a very tired boy! Happy Birthday Mimi We LOVE you!!

A conversation with Logan

Logan is a talker. Even when we couldn't understand him he was trying to tell us something. Well now that we understand him, he is great for a conversation - at any time of the day! The car is lately the best place to get him talking!

Logan: Where's baby?
Me: The baby is in his car seat next to you.
Logan: Where's Da-da?
Me: Da-da is at work.
Logan: Da-da at work with his truck.
Me: Yes Da-da is at work with his truck.
Logan: Where's Papa? I don't know Where's Mimi? I don't know (he answers his own questions - hehe)
Me: Papa is at work, we are going to get Mimi.
Logan: I want Papa and Papa's truck.
Me: I know you do, but we are going to see Mimi and maybe we will go to Rita's to see Papa.
Logan: Eat ice cream (Rita's=ice cream)
Me: Yes if you are good at the store we will get ice cream at Rita's.
Logan: What's that? (pointing to everything we pass)
Me: Logan I love you
Logan: I wuv you Mama

Now if that isn't the best conversation I don't know what is.
