Confessions of a Mommy

Confession number 1 - I was one of those people who said that when I had a baby he/she would never sleep in my bed. Well as everyone knows, Logan has been sleeping in between Brian and I since he was born. When we brought Logan home from the hospital, I worried about everything when I would lay him in his bassinet or crib. I worried whether or not he was hot, cold, breathing, scared, lonely and then there was the cat. I worried if she would jump in the bed and suffocate him. I slept more soundly if I held my sweet baby all night in bed next to me. Then the next thing to keep him in bed with us, was that I was nursing. It was so nice to be able to feed him and to get some sleep! When Logan was almost 3 months old school started and I had to go back to work. He was sleeping though the night and it would have been a great time to have him sleep in his own bed, but (another confession) I missed him so much and felt so guilty about leaving him all day that I felt better about leaving him if he slept next to me. At six months, Brian and I decided that it was time for Logan to sleep in his crib. Here comes another confession - half way through that first night, I was so sad that I went and got him out of his crib and he has been in our bed ever since. I had a goal before going back to work in August and that was to get Logan to sleep in his crib in his room. Brian put him to bed the first night (last Thursday) I took a bath so I wouldn't hear him cry, before my bath water stopped running Logan was asleep (Way to Go Daddy!). He slept until the next morning. It was a huge success. The second night, Brian put him to bed again and within minutes Logan was asleep. Saturday night was my turn. I took him into his room and patted his back and he was asleep quickly. We did it! Logan now sleeps in his own bed. We are very proud of this step in parenting. We say we will do it differently this time. Austin will never sleep in our bed...

Oh Meaghan I am so glad y'all have successfully gotten your own bed back! Good job you two! Logan is a big boy now and it is o.k.
